How a Tokyo Night Flight Works

Book after sunset, send the passenger details, and be at the heliport half an hour early.

  1. Book After Sunset

A slot before sunset flies in daylight. Sunset is around 4.30 pm in December and 7 pm in June.

  2. Mind 19:00

Before 19:00 the flight may not be able to head towards Tokyo Tower; staff contact you to change the time or refund you in full.

  3. Send the Details

Names, ages and weights for everyone; missing details can mean you are refused boarding. No passenger over 120 kg.

  4. Fly for 50 Minutes

Arrive 30 minutes early for the briefing, then fly the towers, Shinjuku and Shibuya.

The Guide

Flying Tokyo After Dark: Which Flight, and What Time to Book

Fifty minutes or thirty, sunset or full dark, and the 19:00 rule to know before you pick a slot.

For the longest night flight over Tokyo, book the 50-Minute Premium Helicopter Night Flight. It is a private charter for one to four, run by Space Aviation from Chiba Wangan Heliport: out across the bay to Tokyo Tower and the Skytree, the two towers the operator calls the W Tower, then west over the lights of Shinjuku and Shibuya, and back along the lit shore. It costs from US$598 a person (checked October 2026); the operator’s own price is ¥250,000 and up, varying with the number of passengers. It is new on GetYourGuide, with no reviews yet.

The same operator runs the 30-minute Skytree and Tokyo Tower flight from the same heliport, rated 5.0 from 30 reviews, and reviewers of that one describe the night views as breathtaking; one flew in the rainy season with a typhoon on the way and still had a clear night. The 50-minute flight is the longer version, with Shinjuku and Shibuya added.

The time you book matters

Two rules on the listing decide what you see. A flight booked before sunset flies in daylight, so for the lights pick a slot after dark: sunset in Tokyo is around 4.30 pm in December and 7 pm in late June. And a flight booked before 19:00 may not be able to head towards Tokyo Tower because of flight restrictions; after you book, staff contact you to move the time or refund you in full if the change does not suit you. In summer that means booking late; in winter a 19:00 slot is already well after dark.

Fifty minutes or thirty?

If both towers are what you want, the 30-minute flight covers them, from US$416 a person, with the most reviews of any Tokyo flight. The 50-minute flight adds the skyscrapers and the crossing districts to the west, which the 30-minute route does not list. For a private flight closer to central Tokyo, the private flights from Tokyo Heliport take off from Shin-Kiba.

Getting to Chiba Wangan Heliport at night

The heliport is in Mihama, Chiba City, facing Aqualink Chiba on the east side of Inage Seaside Park, not in Tokyo itself, and two reviewers of the 30-minute flight found it hard to reach or to find. The JR Keiyo Line runs along this shore from Tokyo Station; allow plenty of time, take a taxi for the last part, and keep the address from your booking to show the driver. Be there at least 30 minutes before take-off for the briefing. The heliport guide compares it with Tokyo Heliport.

If the weather turns

In sudden bad weather such as torrential rain or lightning, or if the aircraft has a fault, the captain can cancel even on the day or after you have arrived at the heliport. You are then offered a new date and time or a full cancellation with no fee. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before covers your own change of plans.
