Tokyo Helicopter Tour Routes: What You See on Each Flight

The routes of the Tokyo helicopter tours: the bay, the Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo Tower in 10 minutes, Ginza and the Skytree in 20, Shibuya and Shinjuku in 30, both towers from Chiba, and Mount Fuji.

Updated 2026-10-23

Every Tokyo helicopter tour flies over the bay and at least one of the two towers; how much more you see depends on the minutes. Ten minutes from Tokyo Heliport covers the bay, the Rainbow Bridge and Tokyo Tower; twenty adds Ginza and the Skytree; thirty adds Shibuya and Shinjuku. The Skytree and Tokyo Tower flight from Chiba spends its 30 minutes on the two towers and the bay shore, and the night flight adds Shinjuku and Shibuya.

The landmarks

  • Tokyo Skytree, 634 metres, the tallest tower in the world, by the Sumida River in Sumida. The flights from Chiba pass right beside it.
  • Tokyo Tower, 333 metres, red and white, in Minato, with the office towers around it.
  • The Rainbow Bridge and the bay, with Odaiba and the port, usually the first thing after take-off.
  • Ginza, the shopping streets between the bay and the Imperial Palace.
  • Shinjuku and Shibuya, the skyscrapers and the crossing districts to the west, on the longer flights.

When the route changes

Routes depend on the weather and on air traffic control. On the flights from Chiba, a slot before 19:00 may not be able to head towards Tokyo Tower because of flight restrictions; the operator then adjusts the course so you still get the full flight time, and you can take a full refund instead if the change does not suit you. The hotel-pickup ride notes that its duration and route may vary with the weather and air traffic control.

Seeing the most

If both towers matter most, the Skytree and Tokyo Tower flight is built around them. If you want the west of the city as well, take the 30-minute private flight from Tokyo Heliport or the 50-minute night flight. Ask the pilot about Fuji on a clear winter day: the private flight lists it as a possible view. The best time guide covers light and season.
