How a Tokyo Helicopter Tour Works

Pick the flight and the time of day, send the names and weights, and be at the heliport half an hour early.

  1. Pick the Flight

Ten minutes over the bay, half an hour past the Skytree and Tokyo Tower, fifty minutes at night, or a Mount Fuji flight. Check what the price covers: some are per person, others one price for the helicopter.

  2. Choose the Time

Daylight shows the layout of the city and, on clear winter days, Mount Fuji; after dark is for the lights. On the Skytree and Tokyo Tower flight, a slot before sunset flies in daylight.

  3. Send the Details

The operator needs every passenger's name, age and weight before the day; missing details can mean you are not allowed to board. A child under two can ride on an adult's lap.

  4. Arrive Early and Fly

Be at the heliport at least 30 minutes before take-off for the safety briefing. If the weather is not safe to fly, the operator cancels the flight.

The Guide

Booking a Helicopter Flight Over Tokyo: Which Flight, Which Heliport, What It Costs

Ten minutes over the bay, half an hour past both towers, a night flight or Mount Fuji. Here is how the Tokyo flights differ, and which one fits your trip.

A Tokyo helicopter tour is 10 to 50 minutes over the largest city in the world, close enough to look across at the Skytree and down into Tokyo Tower’s lights. The flight this page puts first is the Skytree and Tokyo Tower Helicopter Tour: 30 minutes past both towers and along the bay, by day or after dark, for one to four passengers, with a pilot who points out the landmarks. It costs from US$416 a person (checked October 2026) and is rated 5.0 out of 5 from 30 reviews, eight of them this year.

Reviewers mention the pilot pointing out each landmark, and how close the Skytree looks; one flew in the rainy season with a typhoon on the way and still had a clear night view. The one thing to plan for is the heliport. This flight takes off from Chiba Wangan Heliport, on the bay in Chiba City by Inage Seaside Park, not in central Tokyo, and two reviewers found it hard to get to or to find. Allow time, and take a taxi from the station.

Tokyo Heliport or Chiba?

Two heliports serve the flights on sale here. Tokyo Heliport, at Shin-Kiba on the bay in Koto, is the close one: about ten minutes by train from Tokyo Station to Shin-Kiba and a short bus or taxi ride. The private flights and the Mount Fuji flight leave from there. Chiba Wangan Heliport is further round the bay in Chiba City; the Skytree and Tokyo Tower flight and the 50-minute night flight use it. The heliport guide has the directions for both.

Where the flights start: Tokyo Heliport at Shin-Kiba, close to the city, and Chiba Wangan Heliport further round the bay, with the landmarks the routes fly over.

Every Tokyo helicopter flight on GetYourGuide

Seven helicopter flights over Tokyo and to Mount Fuji were on sale in October 2026, which is a short list, so here are all of them:

Mt Fuji and Tokyo Skyline RideUS$5,741up to 3PrivateWith pickup

The two with transfers cost more than the flights themselves because a car and a guide are added; if you can get to the heliport on your own, the plain flights are better value. There is also a tandem skydive from a helicopter for the very brave, from US$1,148 a person.

Per person or per helicopter?

This is the part that changes the price most. The Skytree and Tokyo Tower flight is priced per person, from US$416, and the operator notes that the price varies with the number of passengers, so choose your group size on the calendar to see the total. The private flight from Tokyo Heliport is one price for the helicopter and up to three passengers, so three people pay US$574 between them. The price guide works out the cost for one, two and three of you.

Day, sunset or night

By day you see the layout of the city, the bay and its bridges, and on a clear winter morning Mount Fuji on the horizon. After dark it is the lights: both towers lit, the bay shore and the glow of Shinjuku and Shibuya. Sunset gives some of each. On the Skytree and Tokyo Tower flight, a slot booked before sunset flies in daylight, and a flight booked before 19:00 may not be able to go towards Tokyo Tower because of flight restrictions, in which case you can take a full refund. The best time guide and the night flight page have more.

Mount Fuji by helicopter

Two private flights go out to Mount Fuji: one from Tokyo Heliport and back, and one with pickup that adds Kamakura, Enoshima and the Shonan coast. Neither has many reviews yet, and Fuji is often hidden by cloud in summer, so the Mount Fuji page covers when it is most likely to be clear.

Before you book

  • Names, ages and weights. Operators need them for every passenger before the day; on the Skytree and Tokyo Tower flight missing details can mean being refused boarding. The weight and passenger guide explains why.
  • Arrive early. Be at the heliport at least 30 minutes before take-off for the briefing and the passenger list.
  • Weather. The operator decides on the day and cancels if it is not safe to fly; every flight here also has free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
  • The route. See what each flight covers in the route guide, and whether it is worth it for you in the worth it guide.
